A modern tale of the pursuit of fortune in the world of West Texas oil rigs
See the most popular movies and TV shows from writer/director Taylor Sheridan on IMDb, sorted by user rating. A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, acts as a middleman between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize agreements with landowners who hold mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Essentially, they manage the land and secure leases so they can drill for oil and gas.
Only three episodes
Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, build housing for workers (a man camp), set up excavators, and drill their own well, especially in remote locations. They are also part-time repairmen, problem solvers, and helpers. Referenced on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode 44.24 (2022). Billy Bob Thornton has been a welcome return to Texas since Friday nights in 2006.
Interesting people and stories
The mood is Yellowstone and this is a welcome series with a bit of reality versus superheroes and fantasy. Based in the Permian Basin oil field, great acting so far! We at Oilfield shake our heads at the inaccuracies and explosions/explosions of camp life. The technical glitches in the first three episodes are embarrassing, and their technical consultant messes up the explosion scene.
No hammer unless brass hammer (ie
Old valve stuck, 24 inch pipe wrench (used upside down and hammered near the top? 100% wrong. Need torque, no cheat pipe to try first? no sparks)?
No experienced oilfield downstream team would have done this
Chaotic technical manager Billy is then taken as a “groundsman” to try to put out the explosion (I have never seen a groundsman on site). Experienced and puts the wrench upside down and hits his own finger. Hey-Ho, PS ex Oilfield and commenting to many of my ex Oilfield team’s reactions.
