Chronology
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes a living carrying out hits for the highest fees. He soon meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who tracks him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. “Day of the Jackal” The novel was set in 1963 and involved an assassination attempt on the then President of France, Charles de Gaulle.
The show moves the setting to the present day
Referenced in Graham Norton and I like: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). This would have been an excellent cat-and-mouse chase if the female lead had been anyone else, literally anyone else. The way she portrays the detective makes the viewer, at least this one, not want to root for her.
I don’t like her, nor do I care about her
She comes across as a conniving, cold, know-it-all, and selfish woman. Yes, she is on the force and what she does is right, but how she does it is horrible! Because of this, I feel like a lot of us who are watching the show are going to root for the Jackal.
And I know I’m not the only one
He is everything she is not, even though he is a killer. I don’t want her to succeed in her mission and I don’t want the Jackal to get caught. I don’t think it should be that way, but that’s how I feel.
And that’s a shame, because he is amazing in it!
From the looks of it, she is getting closer to him. Unfortunately, if she succeeds, I will want to stop watching this show.
